In Memory of Rachel Beeman. July 24, 1936 - May 20, 1980 Loving Wife and Mother. Sweetheart of The Wagon Camp
Rachel 1957 When I fell in love....Who would not? three years later we were married. Picture in your mind, a balmy Sunday evening where The Wagonmasters have been playing and singing with a variety of songs from Marty Robins El Paso, Tumbling Tumbleweeds a rip rousing hoe-down with the crowd of some 16 hundred clapping and stamping their feet…the stage lights go dark and only a glow from the dying embers of the campfire; a single soft pink spotlight shows Rachel sitting on the stone ring that circles the campfire with a small child sitting on her knee and a dozen or more children kneeling around her. To the sound of a classic guitar in the background, you could hear a pen drop as Rachel sings Scarlet Ribbons to the adoring children. The true meaning of Pathos, yes those were Special days at Knotts Berry Farm that will ever live in the hearts of all who were Wagonmasters.

should email me this evening. I was sorting through a bunch of stuff on Ruth's
desk to see if I could find a more orderly arrangement for filing or storing.
One of the papers that I unfolded turned out to be the Order of Worship for
Rachel's memorial service. It has been there for close to 25 years. Ruth and I
were informed of her passing away when we arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland to
visit my cousin. I'll tell you about that encounter the next time we meet. It's
sort of a tragi-comical thing. Judy had called Joe and Marlene to pass the
extremely sad news on to us. I've always taken great pride in the work of the
Chancel Choir. Even after all these years I still feel that if you scored the
two choirs when they sang together, Rachel's kids shone the brightest EVERY
time. I loved it and am still of the opinion that I held then. Ruth absolutely
relished being her 'helper' (ie: finder of lost or mislaid keys, locating
missing music, comforting kids Rachel banished for not paying attention (Just
come back Sunday morning and she'll never know the difference. And, of course,
she never did.) I think it became sort of like a merit badge to be kicked out of
choir and then surviving so to speak.
Sad News: Ruth Henderson, dear friend and long time Choir Mother to
Rachel's Youth Choir at the Anaheim Presbyterian Church has now joined
Rachel and her Choir of Angels.
I will post on The Wagonmasters web site News Page.

Subject: Sad News
Today (1/18/2006) Ruth passed away at 1:15 pm at St Jude Hospital in
Fullerton. She had been fighting a pneumonic type virus for ten or
twelve days. Don't know yet what the doctor has stated as the cause of
death. The charge nurse had gone to get a quick lunch and returned to
give Ruth her medication. Ruth was gone when the nurse entered the room
.She went peacefully, painlessly and with dignity. Graveside services
will be conducted for family and a few close friends at the National
Cemetery at Riverside (March Air Force Base) The middle of next week.
Details have to be worked out with the cemetery ahead of time. A
memorial service at the church will be scheduled for sometime in
February after consultation with the East Coast side of the family.
Ruth's heart had been weakening, her renal system was beginning to fail
and her potassium level had begun to rise to a dangerous level. The two
previous evenings Dr Kwon and I had had extensive conversations about
Ruth's condition. When he sensed that I was going to ask him for a
prognosis he said: Don't ask me because I don't know the answer. Our
thanks and gratitude to all of you for your kind thoughts, prayers and
words of encouragement. Will keep you posted.
